And I mean a BIG book! I believe it’s the biggest book ever published by Gigamesh (Barcelona) which was not written by George R.R. Martin. Incrustados y otros delirios racionalistas, 647 pages. It’s the first in a series of omnibuses of my earlier novels in new Spanish translations, under the heading Watsonianas. This first one contains The Embedding (as Incrustados) plus The Jonah Kit plus Orgasmachine—since Orgasmachine was written first, and published in French long before the novel finally appeared in English after two or three rewrites in 2010; the Spanish omnibus of course contains the perfected version. Here are happy me and happy publisher Alejo Cuervo admiring the omnibus:
I joyfully embrace the description of my novels as rationalist deliriums. And here is the full cover, by ace artist Enrique Corominas, illustrating aspects of all three novels:
And here is my section of the shop window of the Gigamesh bookshop, including the sleeve of the world’s first painted LPs, by Japanese artist Tadanori Yokoo, a shaman with a toucan, and a pickled monstrosity (I am not referring to me after a few drinks):
Us being in Barcelona, a bit of tourism happened, revealing some sights not seen before by me:
Buttocks, I say!
We went to Poblenou (New Town) cemetery, where we missed important things due to confusion…
And I discovered that if you follow the blank wall alongside the Palace of Catalan Music, you come to a courtyard and a glassed facade, behind which is a fairly awesome coffee bar with mosaic columns and floral roof:
So we decided to take the one-hour guided tour of the Palace, which starts from here, and which is a bit expensive but worth every penny…
…things which I didn’t know when I wrote the Progress Reports for the Barcelona Eurocon, tut tut tut.
